Obama scores on the healthcare front
An e-mail plopped into my in-box from a Marjorie Saenz, who works for an outfit called HealthCare.com. Marjorie pointed me to a page of hers which compares the Obama and McCain proposals for healthcare reform in the USA, and then went on to offer me lots and lots of other information about the issue.
Looking at the page it's obvious that the extra information isn't going to be needed. Obama has made a pledge of "guaranteed coverage" for all who live in the USA, and unlike the failed Clinton proposals, his plan does not involve the compulsory purchase of health insurance. McCain by way of contrast offers a "market based approach" that will encourage the purchase of health insurance via tax relief.
As the Americans say, this really is a no-brainer. A pledge of "guaranteed coverage" from Obama against the opportunity to be ripped off by every spiv, wideboy and chancer who will try to flog you dodgy cover with McCain. Score one to Obama, reckons the Exile.
