Baghdad: holding the line until November
With thanks to Juan Cole, here is one of the reasons why the cull rate of American occupiers in Iraq has declined recently. As the video shows the Americans have divided Baghdad up into a series of walled ghettos, using a total of twenty miles of concrete walls to do it. Each mini ghetto is controlled by its militias and the Americans stay well clear. So their soldiers are not being severally and collectively spread over several grid references because they are just not around to experience the terminal delights of a roadside bomb.
Memo to warmongers: this is the road to victory? It looks more like a series of holding pens that Baghdad has been divided up into with the deliberate aim of holding the line until after the American elections are done and dusted in November.
