Riverbend is forced to flee Iraq
Riverbend, the Iraqi girl blogger, and her family have been forced to leave Iraq and are currently in Syria. Her penultimate posting was in April, and that was when she told her readers that the family had decided to leave the country. Then there was silence until the 6th September, when we received the good news that the family were at least safe, having crossed the Syrian border.

This young woman posted a lot on the agony of her country's occupation and earned some unpleasant enemies in the process. One webmong even went so far as to create a fake Riverbend site, and others spent hours trying to prove that she was not even an Iraqi.

Riverbend is an Iraqi who now lives in exile thanks to the American occupation and the chaos that now engulfs the country thanks to that occupation.

She and her people deserve better than that. Once the last occupier leaves the country, and once the dust has settled, let us hope that they get their Iraq back
